Take your time - Olafur Eliasson

Exhibit from the Take Your Time exhibition

Take Your Time is the first large-scale exhibition of works by Danish-Icelandic artist, Olafur Eliasson, to be presented in Australia. It is at the MCA until the 11th of April and is a must see for any designer.

The reason for this is much of Eliasson's work uses light as it's medium and makes us question what we know about light, colour and how we interact with it.

Australian Design Museum Exhibition

Art Month is underway in Sydney (http://artmonthsydney.com to see all the great events that are on).

The Australian Design Museum Exhibition at the Shapiro Gallery was the first event I picked and what a great way to start. The gallery owner, Andrew Shapiro, and the exhibition curator, Sarah King, talked us through all the exhibits. Many of which are from upcoming and established Australian designers.

Gilbert and George in Sydney

Gilbert and George

Gilbert and George were in Sydney today to close the “40 years: Kaldor Public Art Projects" exhibition at the Art Gallery Of NSW. I’ve been an admirer of their artwork for many years but this was the first time I had heard them talk about it.

Very entertaining and funny, they explained, amongst other things, their life philosophy of how a regimented routine can set you free.

Alexander McQueen 1969 - 2010

Very sad today to hear of the passing of the fashion designer Alexander McQueen. He was one of the first designers to really make me sit up and take notice of what was going on in the world of fashion and I’ve eagerly followed his career.

He will be sorely missed but the inspiration he provided to myself and many others as well as his body of work will live on.
